Moka is the secret behind Pittsburgh's glowing brides and wedding parties. We're here to help you look and feel like the best version of yourself on one of the most important (and most photographed) days of your life.
What is a bridal spray tan?
This may sound like a silly question, but it's important to know the purpose of a bridal tan. We often refer to bridal tans as a "bridal glow" because it's meant to be just that. Typically, this will be a natural, golden glow that gives your skin a healthy pop of color. A bridal glow is the best way to even out your skin tone, soften tan lines, and prevent a washed out look. Your eyes will look brighter, your dress will pop, and you'll have a more toned appearance. Need we say more?
Tip: There may be circumstances where you'd prefer a deeper tan, for example, if you're having a summer or destination wedding.
Who should have a spray tan for the wedding?
Everyone! Everybody involved in your big day wants to look their best. Group tans are extremely popular with wedding parties and are a great way to get everyone glowing while saving some cash. Many wedding parties book group tans for the bachelorette or bachelor party, bridal shower, and of course the wedding. If you prefer to come see us in studio, check out our bride bundle.
Tip: Have wine and snacks at your group tan! Tanning parties are such a fun way to make memories while checking off your to-do list.
Do I need a trial tan?
Absolutely! Just like hair and makeup, you need to book a trial tan. During your trial, we will discuss your desired color and customize a formula for your perfect glow. Two days after your trial tan, try on clothing the same color as your wedding day attire to get a true feel for your color.
Tip: Use your trial tan for your engagement photos or bridal shower!
When should I book my wedding tan?
The ideal day for your spray tan is two days prior to your wedding. This gives you enough time for your initial rinse and a "regular shower" before rehearsal dinner. All other beauty services should take place (at least one day) prior to your spray tan. This includes mani/pedis, facials, waxing, massages. The reason for this is because any oils, lotions, or residues left behind from these services can create a barrier preventing spray tan from evenly adhering. Having these services after your spray tan can strip away your tan. If you're having trouble with your beauty timeline, contact us for help.
Tip: Familiarize yourself with the general prep and aftercare to help you plan accordingly.
